Siamese Cats Pictures and specification about this funny cat. Siamese cats are believed to be ancestors of sacred temple cats in Siam, which is present day Thailand. These cats were referred to as "Moon diamond" in Siam. They were known to keep away evil spirits and be good luck to their home owners. Siamese cats were typically seen in temples and around Royal households. These cats were first brought to the United States in 1878 when the American Consul in Bangkok gave a gift of Siamese cats to the American President at the time. 




The cats were then bred in the UK and spread to other sections of Asia and Europe. Types of Siamese Cats There are basically two types of Siamese cats: apple and wedge head. The traditional Siamese is the apple head, which features a round face and compact, robust body. The wedge head is a the modern type and has a triangular shaped head with a slender body. Physical characteristics of Siamese Cats Siamese cats are one of the most popular breeds of short haired cats. They have a long, thin body with a triangular shaped face and wide blue eyes. 
The body is usually cream colored with a lighter color on the neck and belly. These cats have colored points on their ears, face, legs and tail. The points of this cat can vary in color and Siamese cats in come in seal point, chocolate point, lilac point, blue point, and flame point. These cats are usually black and white when they are born. After they grow older, the coat transforms into darker and lighter areas and the points appear into different colors.
Siamese Cats personality Siamese cats are known to have very temperamental and outgoing personalities. These cats are also very social and friendly -- more than most cat breeds. They usually express themselves through their voices and get louder if they are not being paid attention to.
